LIBR 204 - Information Organization and Management
Professional Synthesis
August 8, 2014
Welcome!
For my culminating assignment for LIBR 204, I have decided to do a "deep dive" and focus specifically on generating a synthesis of the strategic planning process, trying to capture the most important elements of what I've learned. From a library management perspective, I believe that understanding the components and the process of strategic planning is essential - and not only for managers but non-managing staff as well - to understand in order to prepare well for an uncertain and ever-changing future. Information organizations such as libraries will likely continue to face unstable financial circumstances, fluctuations in the job market and the economy, shifting opinions on the importance of maintaining "analog" services in the wake of rapidly advancing digital technologies...the list could go on. However, none of these potential concerns need to rupture an organization to its core if it has a well thought-out and comprehensive strategic plan in place for the near and distant future.
Please select from "More..." along the top bar to view nine additional pages related to specific elements of the strategic planning process as well as a list of references used in this synthesis.
